American Councils throughout the world
www.americancouncils.org

American Councils is the worldwide leader in connecting people from the US, Eastern Europe and Eurasia to learning and to each other. How do we accomplish this? In many ways. We operate study-abroad programs for students, education professionals, independent travellers and local leaders. We perform research, publish books and develop Web sites. We serve an institutional role by holding conferences, administering standardized tests, managing information centers and acting as a consultant to governments. We develop and advocate policy on language education around the world.

American Councils Ukraine
American Councils first opened its doors in Ukraine in 1992. Since then American Councils has administered numerous programs sponsored by the US Government, developed projects in civil society building and contributed to the development of standardized testing in Ukraine. Our staff of seasoned professionals is trained to serve the Ukrainian public in the field of educational exchanges between the US and Ukraine.

Standardized Testing

ETS
American Councils is a leader in the field of standardized testing and has been a long standing partner of ETS. American Councils has administered the TOEFL, SAT, GRE and GMAT exams in Ukraine since 1993. Most recently American Councils has embarked on the administration of the TOEIC exam, which allows employers the opportunity to obtain a rating of professional English language abilities of current and potential employees. American Councils also offers the Institutional Testing Program-TOEFL (ITP-TOEFL) exam to individuals and institutions and can assisting in obtaining preparation materials.

CIPA-CAP

The center also maintains an electronic mailing list to inform Ukrainian institutions about educational opportunities in the US. If you would like to be added to this list, contact the IEAC at ieac@americancouncilskyiv.org.ua

Alumni
Over five thousand participants of US Government sponsored programs from Ukraine have studied in the US through American Councils. Apart from the programs listed above, in the past, American Councils also administered the Fulbright Program, the Junior Faculty Development Program, the Regional Scholars Exchange Program, The Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program and the FSA Undergraduate Exchange Program.
Work with participants does not end after participants complete their program in the US. Upon completing a program in the US, participants become ?alumni? of the program and American Councils actively continues contact with them. By organizing activities such as seminars, conferences, trainings, round-table discussions, panel discussions and supporting alumni initiatives, American Councils builds on the US experience of the alumni to support their efforts in working toward the establishment of democratic principles, civil society and a market economy in Ukraine. To see a list of past activities organized and supported by American Councils in Ukraine click here. Announcements regarding future activities planned for alumni of various programs are posted on this web-site in the CALENDAR section.
