Ukrainian Educational System
Secondary Education: primary school (1 - 4 grades) provides primary general education, basic school (5 - 9 grades) provides basic general secondary education and senior school (10 -12 grades) provides complete general secondary education. 12-Scale System of assessment at secondary schools.
Secondary educational institutions: secondary schools, lyceums, gymnasiums, boarding schools and specialized schools.
Higher Education:
• Accreditation Levels: I, II, III, IV
• I – Technical schools and specialized colleges provide professional education, graduates receive Diplomas of Junior Specialists
• II – Colleges and others, graduates receive Diplomas of Bakalavrs (Bachelors)
• III, IV – Institutes, Universities and Academies, degrees offered: Diplomas of Bakalavrs (Bachelors), Specialists, Mahistrs (Masters), Academic Degrees of Candidates and Doctors of Science.
Higher education institutions: Colleges, institutes, conservatoires, universities, academies.
Higher Education Dynamics:
• There is a 2-stage post-graduate degree system in Ukraine (Candidate and Doctor of Sciences) comparable with PhD in the US.
• Implementation of a Credit-Transfer System.
• Credit-Modular System at institutions of III and IV levels of accreditation. |
